PhD thesis examination Prior to defence. Prior to submitting the thesis, it is recommended that the candidate meet with their supervisor and/or PhD thesis examining committee. The PhD Thesis Examination is chaired by an impartial faculty member with ADDS status Display period. When a candidate Estimated Reading Time: 13 mins PhD in the format of a series of publications Approval to submit a PhD thesis in the format of a series of publications must be given at least 3 months prior to the expected thesis submission date by the Committee. See Appendix B for details. Notification of intention to submit (NOITS) NOITS must be completed at least 2 months · The assessment discourse of examiners is explored in depth with reference to high- and low-quality theses. The questions addressed are: (1) What qualities, attributes and characteristics of the thesis are examiners emphasising in their reports? Here, the student’s research, thinking and writing are assessed by experts in their field. Yet, in the early stages of candidature, students often do not know what is expected of their thesis, nor what examiners will scrutinise and comment on Thesis Defence Examination date Submit 1 hard copy & 1 CD of thesis (pdf file) Revise English Process of thesis defence examination for doctoral degree Within 60 days after the final defence. Otherwise result of thesis grade will be “U” ; student must re-take examination and register for the next semester OK Thesis check list Revise

· Examination of a thesis prepared for the degree of master as a PhD and vice-versa There are 10 steps in the thesis examination process. A completed Nomination of Thesis Examiners form and a copy of the thesis abstract should be submitted to the Graduate Research School at least three weeks before the intended thesis submission date.
